Welcome to the Boston Fusion Xchange Travel & Accommodations page! We are very excited to be heading out East for this year's event and can't wait to see you on the Boston dance floor! With an event as large as this, there are bound to be more than a few questions regarding Travel and Accommodation, so we have put together answers, links, ideas, and info to address as many of these as possible. Please take some time to peruse all the amazing offers, opportunities and procedures found on this page for BFX 2011!

One of the biggest changes to this year's event is our approach to housing. Each year FX continues to grow and expand its number, and 2010 even saw dancers traveling from overseas to attend! Because of our growing numbers and limited local hosts, the FX Team has designated the Boston Medford Hyatt as the official hotel of BFX 2011!!! Located merely steps away from the BFX venue, Spring Step, this hotel combines not only great location but also a great BFX discount! Please see the hotel section below for more information on rates, directions, etc.

In an effort to provide you with a much smoother housing experience, we have decided to utilize the service of an online networking system: Space Share. Space Share is an online system that that will allow you to pick and choose who you share a hotel room, taxi to/from the airport, carpool, etc with! Once you register for BFX, you will be able to create a Space Share profile and search through other BFX dancer profiles to see who else is looking for similar travel/hotel arrangements. Please see the appropriate section for a more detailed walkthough of Space Share.

The Hyatt - $109/night

BFX is pleased to announce, Boston Medford Hyatt, as the official hotel of the Boston Fusion Exchange 2011!

This full service hotel offers a full range of on-site amenities as well as being literally across the parking lot from the BFX main dance venue, Spring Step!! BFX has negotiated the low rate of $109/nt for a double queen or single king room exclusive for our participants! This price expires Dec 23, 2010 and includes:

Sample breakdown of costs for 4, Fri-Sun (3nts): 29.75 person/nt = ~$90.00

This means that for less than $100 you can stay at a *4 star* hotel, right next door to the dance venue, complete with breakfast, pool, Wi-Fi last but certainly NOT least, a never ending coffee supply to keep you dancing all weekend long!

To book your housing you will need to call to reserve a room at the Hyatt -or- create a profile on Space Share first to see if you can room with someone who already has a room reserved.

Please note: BFX has a number of rooms blocked off, but YOU must call to make reservations. You are also financially responsible for costs associated with your room. You will pay the hotel directly for your room.

Travel to Hotel

The Boston Medford Hyatt is located 8.4 miles from the Logan International Airport (BOS). Please bear in mind, you can always search in SpaceShare for people arriving/flying home around the same time as you to split taxi costs. For those not wanting to rent a car or taxi, we have provided public transportation instructions for your benefit (and pocketbook!) below.

If you choose to take public transportation, you will want to end up at Wellington Station. From here the Hyatt is ~1mile away and they have a free shuttle service that will pick you up from Wellington Station, btwn 7am-9pm. Simply call the hotel when you arrive at Wellington Station and ask for the shuttle to be sent. The cost for public transportation is about $5.

The Comfort Inn - $59/night

We've negotiated an amazing rate that is $40/off the posted rate for 4 people. It's only $59/night. For 4 people, this is $14.75/night. For your stay, you get free breakfast and WiFi.

NOTE: The Comfort Inn is 5 miles from SpringStep and it will take you nearly an hour to get to to classes and dances via public transportation. If you (or your friend) already have a car, this is no problem!

Hosting/Home Stay – Free-ish

Don't forget to use SpaceShare to find a host/home stay or roommates for the hotel. Home stays are free and are a great bonding experience. But, please remember that you're responsible for finding your accommodations using SpaceShare and you will have to coordinate with your housemates to have transportation to and from the venue. Be sure to thank your host (a small gift or baked goods or sharing in cooking is usually appropriate). Also, remember to ask whether you need to provide your own towel, air mattress, or transportation.

Space Share

This year we are very pleased to announce a brand new approach to organizing our housing: Space Share! Space Share is an online networking system that allows BFX participants to find other dancers with whom to share hotel rooms, taxi's/carpools and even airline flights!! This new service will replace traditional rooming assignments used in the past. So instead of us doling out your room assignments, Space Share will allow you to easily find and choose who you room/travel with!

In other words when you register for BFX, this is what will happen:

  1. You can hardly wait for BFX 2011 and are primed to register as soon as registration opens on June 15, 2010! Once registered, you will receive a "Confirmation of Registration" (CoR) email to the address you provided during registration.
  2. Included in your CoR email, will be the link to the BFX Space Share page. Follow the link and create an account for yourself using the password provided. This account will allow you to create a travel profile for yourself, search and network through the profiles of fellow BFX dancers who are either traveling or searching for housing similar to you.

No matter if you are looking for hotel roommates, someone to share a taxi with you, someone who is carpooling to BFX from your zipcode, or if anyone shares similar flight arrangements, you will want to follow the Space Share link provided to you in the CoR email sent to you upon successful registration for BFX. Space Share is a really useful tool for networking for such a big event.
