About Boston

Boston truly is a uniquely American city. Known for its important role in sparking the American Revolution, you really get to walk through history as you stand in front of the Old State House looking at the very spot where the Boston Massacre took place. Or take a trip to the Old North Church where Paul Revere instructed fellow Patriots to hang lanterns to signal which direction the British might invade, "One if by land, two if by sea." See Paul Revere's original home in the Old North End or have a drink in the Green Dragon Tavern, the place where the revolutionaries gathered just prior to throwing the Boston Tea Party. Visit "Old Ironsides," otherwise known as the USS Constitution, the ship whose hull stood up to repeated fire from British warships, bouncing the cannon balls innocently back into the water. Take a trip to Marshall St and feel as if you're stepping into the 18th Century as you walk down a narrow cobblestone street surrounded by pubs, one of which is the oldest continually operated restaurant in the United States.

Boston is an incredibly diverse city, attracting students from all over the world to study at Harvard University and M.I.T. You can find authentic cuisine from all over the world, be it Thai, Vietnamese, French, Italian, Irish, Indian, German, Swiss, Persian, Greek, or Spanish, it's all there. Better still is the noticeable lack of chain restaurants!

Boston's greatest attraction, however, are its people. Their love of the city is seen in the way that they keep it clean, are enthusiastic to show you around instead of simply giving directions, and all root for the same teams! They are all in love with their city. On many occasions, random Bostonians will gather in the cold in front of a shop window where the owner left the game playing on the TV and root on the Celtics, Red Sox, or Patriots. From the 1770's to now, Boston is still more than a city: it's a tightly knit, yet incredibly diverse community.
